Maintenance
My gold plated jewelry has faded in color. Why?
Fading of gold plated jewelry is natural and is to be expected during the lifetime of the product. At Ophion we offer free replating of Gold Vermeil products while also accommodating replating of other products at the customers behest.
However, in order to increase the gold plating life span, following our Care Guides may help you!
Will my Pearl or Stone Jewelry fade in color or peel off?
No, neither Pearls nor Stones from Ophion will fade or peel. We use high grade stones and natural freshwater pearls along with durable seashell pearls as our raw materials. Should you face any such issue, please do reach out to us at info@ophion.me
I have acidic/reactive skin. Can I wear jewelry from Ophion?
If you have acidic or reactive skin, we highly suggest you to go for non gold plated products such as Sterling Silver, Stainless Steel, Solid Gold or hypoallergenic PVD plated jewelry.
As skin acidity varies from person to person, we cannot provide a definitive answer. As a general rule of thumb, if you have slightly acidic skin, then you can get away with wearing most jewelry products for a few hours per day although the lifespan of these items maybe shortened. On the other hand, besides Surgical Steel and Solid Gold, highly acidic skin will react to anything including Stones.
Why is my Sterling Silver jewelry tarnishing?
In a normal course of life for Sterling Silver jewelry you may or may not experience tarnishing. While you can do all your regular activities including running, swimming etc. repeated exposure to harmful chemicals or acidic skin may cause silver to darken. This is because Sterling Silver is an alloy of 92.5% Silver (denoted by 925) and 6.5% Nickel or Copper. Of this make up Sterling Silver is non-reactive and hypoallergenic but the Copper or Nickel may react.
